Bright and Cheerful Homes

The web page is beginning a series of articles on the family, focused on the teachings of the recent Magisterium and St. Josemaria. The first two articles in the series are now available.

The Founder of Opus Dei used to assure Christian couples that, if they are generous with God, he will help them to form a “bright and cheerful home.”

Once he was asked in a get-together by the father of a family: “How can I combine my love for my children with the necessary fortitude? To what point can I let my affection influence me?” And St. Josemaria responded: “Affection has no limits. When there is fortitude there is also affection, because fortitude is a part of love. Don’t you agree? And then you can’t treat each of your children the same. Each one is different. Each is a jewel God has placed in your hands because he has a lot of confidence in you and in your wife. So collaborate with God, so that this jewel may shine and give light.”

The web page is beginning a series of articles on the family and raising children, focused on the teachings of the recent Magisterium and St. Josemaria. The series will be found in the “Growing in Faith” section. Topics to be covered include “Parents’ Rights in Educating their Children,” “Transmitting the Faith,” “Educating in Freedom”, “Educating in Temperance,” “Educating in Friendship,” “Educating the Emotions,” and others.

Links to the first two articles in the series are provided below. New articles will be put up as the translations become available.
